We are starting a new, daily column in which we educate you with both real and made up facts about history on this day.  We invite you to give us your comments or let us know which answers are real and which are fake.  Enjoy!

1.  The first tank produced in the world was made on this in England.  It was named either Little Willie or Slick Willie. Which is it?

3.  Cal Ripken breaks Lou Gehrig’s “Iron Man” Record of playing in 2,131 consecutive baseball games.  President Clinton and Vice President Gore are there.  Did he run his victory lap because he broke the record?  Or, did he run his victory lap because he was trying to get away from Gore, who was trying to get him to do a cameo for an Inconvenient Truth?

4.  Italian Opera Singing Legend Luciano Pavarotti passed away in 2007

5.  Eddie Murray, a Baltimore Oriole, became the third baseball player in history to hit 3000 hits and 500 home runs on this day in 1996.  Vice President Al Gore was not there, so Eddie Murray was running just to celebrate his accomplishment.

6.  Princess Diana’s Funeral was watched by more than 2.5 Billion People

7.  On this day in 1973, Tony Boyle former leader of the United Mine Workers is charged with murder for the deaths of former UMW rival Joseph A. Yablonski and his wife and daughter. 

8.  Joe Kennedy was born on this date in 1888.  True or False, does the American Distillers Association have a plaque to commeorate his birth?

9.  Jimmy Reed, one of the greatest American blues musicians ever, was born on this day in 1925

10.  In the inaugural game of the All-American Football Conference, the Cleveland Browns beat the Miami Dolphins 44-0 on this date in 1946.  True or False:  This is the last time that the Cleveland Browns won a big game!
