Obama’s Green Economy;Bad For US, Good For China

When Obama ran for President, he promised that switching to a “Green Economy” would be the backbone of the economic recovery. Obama was right; it is doing wonders for China’s economy.

The latest comes from GE, who will shut down its last plant that was producing incandescent light bulbs, as a response to a 2007 law that is phasing out the incandescent light bulb (yeah, I know this happened during Bush’s term, I never claimed to be his number one fan). The replacement for our beloved light bulb will be the CFL (compact fluorescent light bulb) which are produced in, you guessed it, China.

CFL’s are the greatest example of false advertisement in the history of this country.  Ever use a 60 Watt CFL to replace a 60 Watt incandescent? Sure you have, and it was a horrible experiment leading to strained eyes from the dim output of light. CFL’s use 5 Watts of energy to produce….realistically…5 Watts of light. It makes sense that the CFL’s are made in China, not only are they not as good as the real thing, they are an environmental hazard with the lead and mercury in them. Break one of the bulbs and you have to call in a Hazmat team to clean it up.

China will also be producing most of the solar panels sold in the world. The number one manufacture of solar panels, First Solar of Arizona, is opening plants in….China. The second largest manufacture of solar panels is a Chinese manufacture as well. So Solar energy is owned by the Chinese now.

We still have wind energy, right?  Not so fast; A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd., based in Shenyang, China, will supply turbines to a joint venture planning to build a $1.5 billion wind farm in Texas using equipment made in China. It is said that this venture will produce about 1000 American jobs, but what kind of jobs are they? I can tell you that; instillation. There is nothing wrong with that, except it is a short-lived job. Once the turbine is up and running, job is done. Not exactly something you would want to build a strong economic recovery on; short-lived jobs.

Take a look at the Environmentalist Movement and this may all make sense. The environmental movement is one with a communist ideology at its backbone, so the fact that a communist country is getting rich of the United States attempts to go green, is all the better.

Electric car batteries and  CFL’s are all toxic entities.  A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad economy. China owns about a third of the United States debt (thanks to a President who is spending us into oblivion), it might as well own the equipment that powers it as well or we can give them California and call it even.
