Matty’s Corralled Thoughts: Obama’s About Face

President Obama announced today that he is signing an executive order to review all government regulations.  It is kind of odd to sign a regulation to regulate the regulators that have made the regulations.  I think if Dr. Seuss were alive he could have fun with that sentence.  Obama acknowledges, that some his laws have had a devastating effect on business in America.  Hopefully, they review any law that mentions the words tax, healthcare, lightbulb, and carbon.  If he would have been reading Red State Report, he would have known about how his policies have been destroying business well over a year ago.  Obama has started to surround himself with Clinton apologists since the November thumping his party took.  Their monumental task is to revamp his image from extreme leftist to centrist.  Given the size of the chore, Charlie Sheen’s PR agent might be a better choice…

Sum te wong here

The White House will welcome China’s leader Hu Jintao, on Tuesday, with a large extravagant state dinner, the first one in 13 years. President Bush, you may recall, preferred the workman like suit and tie luncheons over the tuxedo clad state dinners.  Many in the administration feel the Premiere has “felt slighted” by the treatment, from the Bush administration, for being on the cheap when it comes to recognizing the visits from the Chinese and not bowing when Bush greeted him.   A state dinner costs between $500,00 to one-million dollars to put on.  Since China is paying for the party anyway through financing our debt, give them what they want.  At the end of the meal they can open their fortune cookies together. It will read, “You will be wise not to seek too much from others” and Washington will have their “lucky” powerball numbers on the back to play…

In the spirit of the visit from China’s leader, take the time to play this classic from SNL. video

Regis Philbin, 80, announced his retirement from television this morning.  Regis started his TV career hosting game shows during the Eisenhower administration and holds the Guinness Book of World Records for most time spent on t.v. (16,000+ hrs, or about the same time Obama has spent playing golf on vacation). Regis is best known for “Live with Regis and Kelly” and as the host of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”  First Oprah announced her retirement, then Larry King and now Regis. Next thing we will be reading is Jay Leno will be leaving the Tonight Show and giving it to that young man Conan O’Brian…

Three time retiree Brett Favre, 41, announced last night that this is his final retirement from the NFL.  Favre is recognized as the NFL’s ironman because of his record for most consecutive starts (321).  The gunslinging pro-bowler has played for Atlanta, Green Bay, New York Jets, and the Minnesota Vikings. Injuries have limited Favre’s play on the gridiron this year and his reputation has been tarnished due to a sexting scandal involving multiple women in various cities. To think, he isn’t even a sailor. I do not know if Nixon’s image team can undo the damage Brett Favre has done to himself.  Only time will tell and maybe he will get a guest shot on “Live with Regis and Kelly” show. He certainly had some good times while in New York, and the courts have the records to prove it…

  1. Just so you know, there’s a difference between regulations and executive orders.
