Obama: I’m Not A Big Spender, Now You Take That Back!

Obama has recently been recorded as claiming to be a fiscal hawk, a deficit cutter.  I know this takes a large stretch of the truth to believe this and if you do you may want to contact Tipper Gore, I’m sure she can find a psychiatrist that can help you grasp reality.

Obama stated in a recent fundraiser:

“I’m running to pay down our debt in a way that’s balanced and responsible. After inheriting a $1 trillion deficit, I signed $2 trillion of spending cuts into law,” he told a crowd of donors at the Hyatt Regency.

“Since I’ve been president, federal spending has risen at the lowest  pace   in nearly 60 years. Think about that.”

“I just point out it always goes up least under Democratic presidents. This other side, I don’t know how they’ve been bamboozling folks into thinking that they are the responsible, fiscally-disciplined party. They run up these wild debts and then when we take over, we’ve got to clean it up.”

The scary thing is, I think Obama believes what he says!  So what happened to the $2 trillion cut?  Obama started with a $10 trillion deficit and now we are at $16 trillion.

Where does Obama get these ideas?  Well from his own clouded head most likely, but it doesn’t help when journalists jump into these shark infested waters and try to convince the rest of us those sharks are actually goldfish, enter Rex Nutting:

Over Obama’s four budget years, federal spending is on track to rise from $3.52 trillion to $3.58 trillion, an annualized increase of just 0.4%.

There has been no huge increase in spending under the current president, despite what you hear.

Why do people think Obama has spent like a drunken sailor? It’s in part because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the federal budget.

When you look at the percentage of the federal spending to GDP you will find:

–  25.2% of GDP in 2009

–  24.1% of GDP in 2010

–  24.1% of GDP in 2011

–  24.3% (estimates by the White House ) in 2012

Outside of WWII the federal spending to GDP has never been above 23.5%, but Obama has outspent that figure consistently during his entire tenure.  I know those of you who are liberals and have half a brain will counter with…the 2009 budget was Bush’s last budget and therefore it is his fault!  That is partially true.  The 2009 budget was Bush’s last budget however, Obama took what was a bloated budget and busted it.  It was Obama that signed the auto bailout and TARP (no Bush did not sign those, he left it for Obama) and then let’s not forget the nearly $1trillion stimu-bust which was suppose to keep unemployment below 8% and all it actually did was funnel money to Unions and now failed green energy companies.

The problem now is 2009 is used as a baseline for all the following budgets.  Yes, spending in the following years has decreased—from 2009, but that year was in the stratosphere for spending coming down 1% is hardly worth writing home about.  That is why republicans in the House want to return to the 2008 spending levels.  Would that really kill anybody?  No, and it would send the economy into overdrive.

Granted Obama has cut $500 billion out of Medicare but that was to pay for Obamacare.  All of you old enough for Medicare remember who actually cut your Medicare…Obama and all those other democrats who voted for Obamacare.  Now you know who really is throwing grandma over the cliff.

Then there are the actual cuts in the military and the military only accounts for 4.5% of the GDP, same since the Vietnam era.  Yes, one of the few requirement the government actually has under the Constitution, the protection of it’s citizens and they are cutting that while expanding the federal employment rolls and entitlements.

If Obama was serious about spending cuts then why did Joe Biden blame the Tea Party for slowing the economy?  The Tea Party is all about responsible efficient government.  Apparently Biden wanted to be able to spend more money on their political friends in order to stimulate the economy more.

Before you believe the fairy tale Obama is spinning, remember Senator Barack Obama voted for every spending increase in the 2009 budget so he has 100% blame coming to him for the 2009 budget as well.

Obama tries to convince us that he is really a fiscal conservative and those big bad republicans are being mean to him, telling everybody he’s a spend-thrift.  My response to the President—Liar, liar, pants on fire.
